Star Trek Beyond
As the USS Enterprise continues its travels through deep space on a five-year assignment, Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) is growing restless. However, when the Enterprise is attacked, and Kirk and his crew are left stranded on an uncharted and dangerous planet, the captain must use every resource he can find to save his crew and get back to his original mission.
ClearPlay in Action
There is scattered offensive language in this movie, mostly by Bones (Karl Urban). There are also some violent deaths and injuries that the filters can tone down. Sexual relationships are implied, but not shown and Kirk and his crew drink alcoholic beverages. It’s all very PG-13 in tone, but it’s still more edgy than the original series and Star Trek movies.
So Does this Movie Boldly Go Where No Movie Has Gone Before?
While I am not a Trekkie, I have enjoyed each film in the rebooted series and Star Trek Beyond is no exception. This is a fun movie. It’s directed by Justin Lin (from the Fast & Furious series), so you can expect plenty of action and plenty of ridiculousness, as well as some pandering to the Star Trek fans. This franchise still has some life left in it.

Avengers: Endgame
The dust has settled since the events of Avengers: Infinity War, and it's up to those left behind to pick up the pieces and try to move on. However, when a small glimmer of hope unexpectedly appears, the remaining Avengers assemble once again to try and save the universe.
ClearPlay in Action
Avengers: Endgame is rated PG-13 for action violence and language. However, with a snap of your fingers, you can enable ClearPlay filters and make the stuff you don’t want to see disappear. The filters can remove 56 violent moments as characters are punched, strangled, stabbed, shot, dismembered and decapitated. ClearPlay can also prevent your children from hearing 19 vain references to deity, 20 instances of crude language and 28 curse words & profanity, including 15 S-words.
Even with editing, this superhero movie has grim overtones. The story deals with grief, death and anger as the characters react to what happens. Younger children might be disturbed by how the road ends for certain characters, as well. Nevertheless, if your kids enjoyed Infinity War, they should be able to handle this movie, as well.
So Does Endgame End Strong?
I laughed. I cried. I loved Avengers: Endgame. This well-made finale to the Infinity Saga is a well-deserved victory lap for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It allows you to reminisce about the previous movies while saying goodbye to characters you’ve grown to love over the past decade. This film also surprised me a number of times as it made some bold choices, so I'm willing to overlook the few flaws it has. Well done, Marvel!
